  1. Water Wisely : Just like us, flowers need plenty of hydration to stay healthy. Make sure to fill your vase with fresh water right to the top. Change the water completely every two days to prevent bacteria build-up, which can harm your flowers. If your arrangement came with a flower food packet, use it according to the instructions with the first water fill—it's packed with nutrients that help flowers stay fresh longer.

  2. Trim the Stems : Before placing your flowers in water, give the stems a good trim. Cut about an inch off from the bottom at a 45-degree angle. This helps the flowers absorb water more efficiently. Remember to use a sharp knife or a pair of scissors specifically designed for cutting plants to avoid crushing the stems.

  3. Keep Cool : Flowers last longer in cooler temperatures, so keep your arrangement away from direct sunlight, heaters, or the top of electronics like TVs or microwaves. A spot that's cool and away from drafts is ideal.

  4. Avoid Fruit : Keep your flower arrangement away from fruit bowls. Fruit gives off ethylene gas as it ripens, which can cause your flowers to age faster.

  5. Prune Away : Check your flowers daily for dead or wilting leaves and petals. Remove these parts as soon as you spot them because they can encourage bacterial growth in the water, which shortens the life of your bouquet.
